Are Driverless Vehicles Coming to Disney World?
Disney World is always looking to up the guest experience but even this one caught me off guard slightly. According to a report from LA Times, Disney World is in final negotiations to launch one of the largest driverless vehicle programs thus far. It states that Disney World is working with two manufacturers of driverless passenger vehicles, Local Motors of Phoenix and Navya in Paris to make this a reality.
This sparks notice that Disney is really focusing on upgrading its transport on property because let's face it. As much as we all love the monorail, it has been having major issues lately. It goes down more and more frequently and just seems to be always getting worked on for issues. Disney has begun construction on their gondola system which i have discussed here. I see this as a good thing. Giving more options for guests to get around on property means guests rely less on uber or lyft to get them around on property and Disney still gets money. Prime Example is the private shuttles.
A test program would be used for cast members for a while but the ultimate goal is to have this ready for guests by 2018.
