Fabulous 45th: Jungle Cruise
To be honest, i was never a fan of the jungle cruise until a few cast member friends started working the attraction. Once i looked into the history more, i began to fully appreciate it. Ii never fully loved it until i experienced the jingle cruise at Disneyland.
DisneyParks Blog continues their 45th weekly series with this still very popular attraction!
The original opened at Disneyland in 1955 and inspired by Disney's True Life adventure film "The African Lion." At one point, real animals were considered for the attraction but thankfully audio animatronics won that round.
The direction for the attraction change din the 1960s when Walt asked imagineer Marc Davis to make the ride for lighthearted. Maybe add some gags for laughs.
Now the attraction is 10 mins of a skipper giving puns and laughs to guests as they journey through the amazon, african congo, nile river and more at disney world! It hasn't changed much since is opened in 1971 except for the holidays in 2013 when it began transformation as the Jingle Cruise.
Also you can indulge in Skipper Canteen, a restaurant inspired by the attraction which is across the way from it.
