CONFIRMED: Main Street Electrical Parade leaving Disney World October 9th

The rumor spread like wildfire and this very night it was confirmed on the DisneyParks blog that the Main Street Electrical parade would be ending its run on October 9th. Not only this but it will have its encore/farewell tour at Disneyland resort!

It has been 20 years since Main Street Electrical Parade graced the streets of Disneyland. It debuted there on June 17, 1972 and ended its course November 25, 1996. The parade had 3 runs at Disney World. The original being June 11, 1977 - September 14, 1991, the second being May 28, 1999 -April 1, 2001 and the final run being June 6, 2010 and ending this year on October 9th.

Paint the Night will return to Disneyland on select nights during the holiday season.

This leaves the question "What does Disney plan to do as far as nighttime entertainment for Disney World's Magic Kingdom?"

Will they replace it with a brand new nighttime parade or nighttime festival of fantasy? Or will there not be any nighttime parade to replace it for the time being at all?

Only time will tell but in any case, we can all agree that it's time for this parade to retire.
