EPCOT Rumor Mill
For a few years now, EPCOT has been rumored to be subject to some extreme changes and it seems that it may be happening soon.
With New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom with its Avatar: World of Pandora and its nighttime experiences and Hollywood Studios undergoing its Star Wars themed land transformation, it seems EPCOT has been left out.
But old rumors have resurfaced and some wild ones seem to be taking some truth effects.
The first old rumor resurfacing is that a version of the Ratatouille ride at Disneyland Paris would be coming to france pavilion in world showcase at EPCOT. I rode the attraction during my trip to Disneyland and it would honestly be a great addition to world showcase. With the success of Frozen Ever After replacing Maelstrom, there is essentially no limit to what disney and pixar films could be incorporated in world showcase.
There is also rumors that character's from Disney Pixar's upcoming film "Coco" will be incorporated into Mexico Pavilion.
It is also rumored that Future World will be undergoing a major re-visualization.
Rumors for months now have been going around that certain attractions would be getting a Guardians of the Galaxy overlay. It started at DCA's Tower of terror and quickly moved to EPCOT. it was rumored to be Mission:Space at first then quickly it turned to Ellen's Energy Adventure in Future World.
It was reported by WDWNT that it was confirmed by several sources that Ellen's would be either gutted or demolished to make way for a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. Many fans blew this rumor off as so many attractions were told to be the center for this attraction until recent events unfolded.
Height balloons were spotted at Future world early one morning, specifically near Universe of Energy .
Height Balloon tests are usually done to see how a building's sight lines will impact the surrounding area, according to WDWMagic.com. high points and corners of the building are represented by balloons at the planned height of the structure, and then the visual impact is evaluated. Since this was done 3 days ago, there may be some truth to the rumor but no official confirmation as of yet from Disney.
Another rumor that has resurfaced is that a Tron coaster may be put into future world, which would be plausible since it is one of the most popular rides currently at Shanghai Disney. It would certainly fit the theme of the future in some aspects and would bring in crowds.
Only time will tell whether or not these rumors are true or false but the fact remains clear that EPCOT needs some new attractions.
