Disney Hotels: Value Resorts

With Disney World releasing its 2017 vacation packages, its time to start getting to work on planning your own vacation for next year!

I am here to help because there is so much more to Disney than meets the eye.

Today we are going to start with one of the first things you concern yourself with when planning.

WHERE TO STAY????

Disney has a wide range of hotel choices for you to choose from. From those vacationing on a budget to those who are willing to spend a bit more. Along the way i will give some practical advice to help you choose which hotel is the best fit for your stay.

First we have to understand the hotel categories.

we have the Value Resorts which can start from $89 a night depending on the season.
there's the Moderate Resorts starting from $166 a night, or sometimes lower , depending on the season.
Next we have Deluxe Resorts starting at $289 a night, sometimes lower, depending on the season.
Following this we have the Deluxe Villas from $318 a night , depending on the season.
Not even mentioning the Campgrounds and Other Deluxe Hotels , the choices can honestly be overwhelming. But have no fear. I will guide you through the differences of each hotel category and help you choose the best fit for you!

Let us begin with the Value Resorts!

This post will focus on the value resorts only

As a broke college student i have spent a good amount of time mainly at the value resorts. I have been fortunate to stay at a few moderate but never any further than that. (SOMEDAY THOUGH!)

The Value resorts disney describes as "Affordable Comfort and Convenience for families on the go!" Basically for those who are on budget and will be spending more time at the parks than their hotels, then this is a good fit for you.

VALUE RESORT OPTIONS

We have the following hotel options under this category:

All Star Movies

All Star Music

Pop Century

All Star Movies

Art of Animation

All of these options are great for a vacationing family on a budget but certain ones will fit certain families. all have different and fun themes to choose from!

To start, every Disney Resort provides transportation to the parks. So that saves you a good amount of money already.

All Star Music Resort pays homage to the most popular music genres around the world jazz and rock n roll to calypso and broadway. Different areas of this resort have different music genre themes. What makes this place neat is its guitar shaped heated pool and fountain dedicated to Disney's Three Caballeros ! A kiddie pool is nearby as well. There is also a grand piano shaped watering hole for those who want to cool off.

There is an expansive music themed food court with a large variety of choices to choose from. There are also family suites here that room up to 6 guests!  Family suites include a bedroom with one queen-size bed; a living area with a double-size sleeper sofa; a sleeper chair; a sleeper ottoman; a kitchenette and 2 bathrooms. There are also the Standard and Preferred rooms which sleep up to 4 guests and have 2 double beds. Photos here for each room.

This next resort i have stayed at personally and loved!

All Star Sports Resort salutes the world of sports from Football to Surfing! What makes this place great is the sports themed areas of the hotel. My last visit we stayed at the Football field part of the hotel.

Above are my personal photos of the Views of the football field on the field and from the room.

Bonus photo of me on the field so you can get a sense of how big it is
During my trip we saw people actually play football and soccer on this field too which is cool. The night before our first park day me and my sister couldn't sleep so we hung out on the field for a few hours.

Above are a few details from the room including this Mickey Towel and this portrait of Mickey playing football.

There is also the Grand Slam pool shaped like a baseball diamond featuring a fountain of goofy that squirts water. another pool has surfboard motifs. There is the End Zone food court which had such great food let me tell you! GET THE MEATLOAF! Also disney provides complimentary movies under the stars by the pool. All Star Sports does not have Family suites and only have rooms with double beds that sleep up to four.

ALL STAR SPORTS ROOM PHOTOS

Rounding out the All Star Trio is All Star Movies Resort. Some family members of mine stayed here during their last Disney vacation and really enjoyed the theme. Paying tribute to Disney classic films, you will be surrounded by some of your favorite disney characters from 101 dalmatians to Toy Story. Here they have a Fantasia Themed pool, inspired by the film where Sorcerer Mickey sprays guests with water. or head over to the duck pond pool inspired by "The Mighty Ducks" films.

There's the World Premiere Food court with 5 marquees serving up tasty food favorites all day long! In room pizza delivery service is provided at all disney hotels as well.

And of course here you can enjoy movie night under the stars at the reel spot.

This hotel does no have family suites and have standard and preferred rooms that sleeps up to 4 with 2 double beds.

The All Star Trio Resort Hotels are located in the Animal Kingdom Resort Area.

Next we have Pop Century, another one of the Value Resort hotels that i have stayed during one of my many disney trips.

Pop Century takes you back in time through the fads and trends from the 1950s to 1990s. It's a great place to hang out with amazing pool and dining options. Each area of the resort is a time period with fads, trends and catch phrases representing it. To be honest i can't recall what area we stayed in but lady and tramp were in ours so im gonna say 1950s or 1960s.

Rooms include the Standard, Preferred, Standard Pool and Preferred Pool. We had Standard Pool room and it was nice! We could walk out and be right at the pool! All rooms have 2 double beds or 1 king bed. No family suites. all sleep up to 4 adults. We booked 2 rooms and had them book adjoined rooms so we could just walk in and out of each other's rooms through a door in the connecting rooms.

Finally we have the newest of the Value Resort Hotels, Art of Animation! This resort is perfect for large families mainly but can accommodate regular sized families too. Here you can explore the artistry and animation of beloved disney animated classics. areas in the resort are themed to The Lion King, Cars, Finding Nemo and the little mermaid with matching themed rooms.

It boasts the largest resort pool on property and when you go underneath the water you can hear music playing. Landscape of Flavors is an awesome dining  area dishing out breakfast, lunch and dinner to guests with 5 different food shops.

As i mentioned before this is a resort hotel catered to mainly large families as their themed family suites cater to families up to 6 people. Family suites include 1 queen sized bed, 1 double sized table bed and 1 double sized sleeper sofa with the following themes to choose from :The lion king, Finding Nemo, Cars or a simple Family suite with no theme. For Regular sized families there is the Little mermaid standard rooms that sleep up to four guests and offer 2 double beds or 1 king bed. here this is the only option for regular sized families.

Both Pop Century and Art of Animation are located near the ESPN Wide World of Sports Area. Keep in mind that Art of Animation is the most expensive of the Value resorts too.
